SSPP Blog: Oceans of Trouble
SSPP Blog: Oceans of Trouble: "Covering 70% of the globe and descending some 36,000 feet, the ocean contains an enormous variety of species and ecosystems, 95% of which remain unexplored. As land-dwelling creatures, we humans—including sustainability researchers—can too easily forget the ocean; regarding CO2 emissions most of the publicity goes to climate changes. Global warming’s impact on coral reefs has long been a concern. Yet recently scientists have increasingly been warning of acidification as the oceans take in vast quantities of anthropomorphically generated CO2, some 25% (the exact percentage is not known)."
