American biblical scholars are claiming that Jesus Christ never actually lived — that he was a myth created by ancient Roman aristocrats as a tool to oppress and control believers. “When the Romans had exhausted conventional means of quashing rebellion, they switched to psychological warfare,” says scholar and author Joseph Atwill. “They surmised that the way to stop the spread of zealous Jewish missionary activity was to create a competing belief system.
